A STUDY ON THE PROSTHESES OF THE ELDERLY

Abstract
|
|
|
A study was done on 169 patients over 60 years who visited the Dept. of Prosthodontics of dental collages in Seoul, Pusan, Kwangju, and Chonan to evaluate oral hygiene condition and the fit of various prosthesis.
@ES The following results were obtained.
@EN 1. The oral hygiene of patients over 65 years was worse than that of patients under 65 years and the frequency of tooth brushing of patients over 65 years was lower as well.
2. In patients treated with crown and bridges, the fit and design of prostheses and oral hygiene condition were poor.
3. Removable partial denture showed inaccurate fit.
4. Complete dentures did not extend enough to the anatomic structures and showed contacts in anterior teeth in centric occlusion.
5. Many patients were not satisfied with their prosthesis.
